To Love My Body

June 2, 2011 | Cleanse & Heal Your Body, Contributor Blog, Featured, Self Love Ideas | 1 Comment »

T
hey keep telling me to love my body.  They make it sound so easy.  And there were times when I did.  There were times I would see the curve of my hip and smile.  Or see my own eyes light up and feel the joy in that.  There were times…

I kept hearing I should love my body.  As if my body is me.  I would hear that I should embrace what I’ve got and strut my stuff without apology.  I would hear that.  Sometimes, I would do that.  And it would feel good for a while….if only for a while.

And then I thought what if I accepted my body?  What if I appreciated it for the vessel that it is?  For it is: the medium that carries my spirit.  And then, what if I worked on loving me?  All of me?  What if I looked guilt and shame straight in the eye and saw them for the charlatans they are?

Because somehow I know my body is not me.  Somehow I sense that I am bigger than it.  And so as I look within and see all that has brought me to this point, I know what is needed.  This is a call for love.  This is a time for healing.  And as the negative emotions are revealed, I wear less of them.

I focus on the light within me.  I bring all that appears to be dark to this light.  I breathe.  I meditate.  I pray.  The light inside appears to grow.  There is a shift.  I move more.  I eat less.  There is a deep love that is cultivated and takes over.  My compulsions melt away.  The flesh that no longer serves is shed.

So when I hear I should love my body, I smile.  For I do, but this is a result of loving my true self.  And the more I recognize that I am NOT my body, the more I appreciate what my body does.  It is my ferryman.  And as a direct result of loving who I am, my body catches up.  It reflects the peace within and shows up with a smile.

Love is funny like that.  It transforms & transcends all in its wake!  And I love that.

A Prayer for Non-Comparing

June 1, 2011 | Love-Oneness-Unity, Prayers | No Comments »

Dear Source Within,

I am so happy and in Love with all of life…but sometimes I get triggered by comparing myself to others, which is a part of my negativity addiction. Please open my eyes to the Perfection that I Am. That we all are. When I compare myself to others, whether favorably or unfavorably, I feel a disconnection from Oneness. When I see that this need to find my standing among others causes me pain, please help me to shift immediately into feeling into our Oneness. Our society sets things up for us to compare everything. Brands at the grocery store, athletic performances, even acting performances in movies! But that does not reflect the truth of our Oneness.

We are all unique, yes!! We are unique expressions of the One. And that is a beautiful thing. But, uniqueness does not imply better or worse, just unique. All flowers in Gods garden are beautiful! All of us are shining stars in the sky. Please help me to see this, Inner Light.

When I compare from unloving thoughts towards myself, help me to feel kindness towards myself as quickly as I can: By breathing love and and compassion for myself into my heart center. Let me nurture and nourish myself with loving energy whenever I feel the need to compare. Help me to know that Unconditional Love starts with me and radiates outward, projecting itself as my reality of Unconditional Love for All!

Amen.

A Prayer for Thinking They Don’t Like Me

May 31, 2011 | Prayers, Self Love Ideas | No Comments »

Dear Inner Source,

I wake up to another beautiful day! The sun is shining. I am truly blessed by goodness. There is one thing that is blocking me from experiencing my Connection to All Beings and to my Oneness today.

There is this person who, whenever I think of them, I feel disconnected from Love. I feel that this person doesn’t like me, doesn’t approve of me, doesn’t think I am lovable. These feelings trigger in me a deep sense of unworthiness.

I know this person’s judgment of me is some part of me not loving myself and I am projecting this into my outer world. So, please, Inner Light, help me to send myself more Love, more Compassion, more Forgiveness, more Unconditional Love and Kindness. I know that this person in my outer world is reflecting judgment back to me because they are only mirroring my self judgment back to me.

As I return to self love, self kindness, and self compassion, I know that I will be able to feel connected to that person in my heart once again. But first, please Dear Love, help me to reconnect to the Love within myself. To the Innocent Unconditional Love Within Me.

Please heal the deep inner places where I consciously or unconsciously judge myself and please fill me with a deep sense of self Love, self worthiness, and self acceptance.

Also, please, for this person who I feel doesn’t like me…send them happiness. Please send them deep and lasting joy. Please let them feel my Love on the Inner Planes, beyond our personalities, egos, etc. Let them feel our oneness. Please help this person to heal their hearts from judging so that they, too, can feel their Connection to All.

I cannot heal this with my self will. So I surrender it to you and ask that when I think of this person in the future, I only feel The Love that we share, for, beneath our thoughts and personalities, that Love is all that truly exists between us.

Amen.

A Prayer For Surrendering Outcomes

| Create Your Dreams, Denise's Journey, Prayers | 1 Comment »

Dear Love Within Me,

Please hear me now when I say that this project/issue/desire that I have been so attached to is causing me suffering and I need to release it to you now. I have been so attached to the outcome of this going a certain way that I have lost my peace.

I know there is a better way. I know that peace comes from surrendering this outcome to you. You, Infinite Love within me, you have the big picture about all of this. You know what outcome would be best. My need to control and manipulate this outcome is causing me to feel separate and alone. Please heal my mind. Please restore my trust and faith in you that you know the best outcomes in this situation.

I know that You have my best interest at heart. I pray for more faith that you Love me and have a grand plan for my life.

I surrender this outcome completely to you now. Take it. Heal me. Free me from thinking I know what would be best here. Only you know.

Only you know.

I know that whatever outcome happens, it will be blessed by the Grace of Your Love.

Thank you.

Amen

The Questions That Define Us

May 30, 2011 | Contributor Blog, Featured, Self Love Ideas | 3 Comments »

What do you do?

Where do you live?

Where are you from?

Where did you go to school?

Do you know so-and-so?

How common are those questions?

These are the benchmark inquiries we use to try to get to know a person, right?

(Look, I do it too.)

But they are not an accurate representation of who we are.

I am not how I earn money.

I am not my apartment.

I am not my hometown.

I am not my university.

I am not my connections.

I am…

…ending my daily phone conversations with my grandmother by saying, “I love you with all my heart” -

…a major fan of making the bed in the morning and flossing my teeth -

…one line of exquisite poetry can turn my world upside down -

…fascinated by the way people communicate, move, and decide -

…a good song running through my arms and legs can change my outlook from black to white -

…forever daydreaming about a cross-country road trip with cassette tapes (hello, James Taylor), a tent, and hiking boots -

…unapologetically singing in the shower regardless of what time it is -

…bored at the prospect of going to Costco but delighted by the potential of a trip to Target -

…so pleased when I find cold corners in the bed with my bare feet -

…endlessly amazed by my best friend since age two (I love you, sister) -

…energized by live music, chit chatting with strangers on the subway, and smiling at small children with food-stained shirts -

…tickled pink (and lavender) by a soft breeze on a crisp spring day -

…in love with picnics in parks and long walks heading nowhere that end everywhere -

…constantly ooh-ing and ahh-ing over fresh strawberries, oranges, melon, peaches, pineapple, and a perfectly ripe avocado.

Ask me…

…what makes me smile?

…what I do for fun?

…who I love?

…what lights me up?

…what (and who) I think of right before relaxing my body into the comfort of my bed?

Because that’s who I am.

This is who we all are, living and breathing between the “big” moments which we wait for and think will define us.

Life doesn’t happen when you have a ring on your finger, a kid in a stroller, and a thick wad of cash in your high yield IRA.

This isn’t just any day, this is the only day you’re living.

Who are you today?

Because I want to know,

what makes you smile, what you do for fun, who you love, what lights you up, and what (and who) you think of right before relaxing your body into the comfort of your bed.

Start asking yourself the real questions.

The answers will amaze you.

You will amaze you.
